Template
This is a Custom Theme

Custom themes can have a 2D non moving image, or be animated by adding texture animations to the models, themes can be created easily using a template.
What you need
Template
We will be working with a template to simplify the process of creating a theme.
With this template, we will be using:
- Two 16:9 textures.
- One 1:1 Floor texture.
- A gradient to make the transition between the Wara Wara Plaza and Launcher screens smoother.

Light Template

Dark Template

Apply the patch to a copy of your Men2.pack (and Men.pack if you are using the Dark Template) file (Patching) and come back here when you're done.
- If you do not have these files, follow Menu Files to learn how to get them.
Launcher
Open the patched Men2.pack template with Switch Toolbox
- Go to
Common > Model > LoungueVR.szs > gsys.bfres > Textures. - Right click
bg02and selectReplace. -
Choose the image you want to use as background for the Menu.
Recommended Image Resolution
1280x720

When importing the image, import it in format
T_BC1_SRGB. - Save.
Where is this image displayed?

Screen Transition
We are now going to change the image that's between the Wara Wara Plaza and the launcher.
- Go back to the
Modelsfolder. - Go to
FloatIcon00.szs > gsys.bfres > Textures. - Right click
White_00and selectReplace. -
Choose the image you want to use as background for the Menu.
Recommended Image Resolution
1280x720.

When importing the image, import it in format
T_BC1_SRGB. - Save.

Wara Wara Plaza
Here you can change the texture of the floor or hide the Wara Wara Plaza.

- Go back to the
Modelsfolder. - Go to
LoungeFloor.szs > gsys.bfres > Textures. - Right click
Floor_Alband selectReplace. -
Choose the image you want to use as the floor for the Wara Wara Plaza.
Recommended Image Resolution
1024x1024

Save.

- Go back to the
Modelsfolder. - Go to
LoungeFloor.szs > gsys.bfres > Models > LoungeFloor. - Download the following floor model.
Download Stretched Floor Model
- Right Click
Objectsand selectImport Static Object. - Import using the
LoungeFloor.daeyou just downloaded. - Click
OK.
In Model Settings.
- Uncheck
Use Material. - Check
Enable Vertex Colors.
Now go to the Inject Mode Tab.
- Check
Keep Original Skin Count.
Go back to the Model Settings tab and click Save.
- Open the Objects folder.
- Delete the
floor__m_floorobject. - Go back to Textures.
- Right click
Floor_Alband selectReplace. - Choose the image you want to use as the floor for the Wara Wara Plaza.
When importing the image, import it in format T_BC1_SRGB
Recommended Image Resolution
2000x2000
- Save.

Layout > LoungeScaleMeter.szs > LoungeScaleMeter.arc > timg > bg.bflim -
In
DisplaySelectFile Editor, thenFile > Replace

Select the image you want to use to hide the Wara Wara Plaza.

Import it as
T_BC1_UNORM

Now Open
LoungeScaleMeter.bflyt -
Go to
RootPane > L_BtnLoungeScale_01

Uncheck
Pane visible -
Repeat this for
L_BtnLoungeScale_02andL_BtnLoungeScale_03
Gradient
There's also the option to use a gradient to make the transition between the screens smoother, this only applies if you didn't hide the Wara Wara Plaza on the previous step.
Still in LoungeFloor.szs > gsys.bfres > Textures.
- Right click
Gradientand clickExport.
You can edit the color of the gradient to your liking in the program of your choice, when you are done simply.
- Right click
Gradient, clickReplace.
Select your new texture and make sure you import it in format TCS_R8_G8_B8_A8_SRGB.
How does the gradient look like?

If you do not want to use a gradient
Right click the next button and click Save Link As... and download the Blank.png file.
- Right click
Gradient, ClickReplaceand select the blank texture you just downloaded. - Import it in format
TCS_R8_G8_B8_A8_SRGB.
The gradient should no longer be visible.

With this template, we will be using:

Three 16:9 textures to display as backgrounds

Extra info
- This template shows the image for the Wara Wara Plaza as a background instead of the floor, which means the Miis will appear to walk in the air and the image will be partially shown on screen depending on where the camera is.
- The recommended resolution for textures is 1280x720.
- When importing textures, use the format
T_BC1_SRGB.

Screen Transition

- Save.
Wara Wara Plaza
- Go to
Common > Model > LoungeFloor.szs > gsys.bfres > Textures. - Right click
Floor_Alband selectReplace. - Choose the image you want to use as background for the Wara Wara Plaza
- Save.
Troubleshooting
- If the Wara Wara Plaza appears blurry, use the Men.bps patch file that comes with the template and load it with your theme.
